The Stories We Carry

At the heart of every MINKA song lies a deep curiosity about the stories we carry — how they shape us, connect us and continue to evolve through every encounter.Berlin-based indie band MINKA creates music that embraces contrasts. Blending indie rock, alternative pop, expressive arrangements and inventive acoustic soundscapes, the trio crafts songs that are melancholic yet hopeful, intimate yet expansive.

Founded in Berlin in 2019, MINKA has grown from intimate living room concerts and a first performance in a neighbourhood bar into an established part of Berlin's independent music scene.Their debut album NEVER TOO LATE explores emotional distance, mental health, new beginnings, belonging and the quiet courage it takes to be truly seen.

All lyrics are written by Paula Klein, while the music is created collaboratively with bassist Philipp Appel and guitarist Sandro Cecchin.Paula gives each song its unique voice. Rather than settling into one vocal style, she allows each song to shape the way it is sung. Her voice can be soothing, raw, direct, powerful or soaring — always in service of the story.Philipp shapes movement and tension through indie, post-punk and shoegaze influences, while Sandro creates space with atmospheric fingerstyle guitar, subtle textures and experimental detail. Together, three distinct musical perspectives become one unmistakable sound.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Deftones,
MINKA has developed an artistic voice that feels entirely its own.Alongside English, the band also writes in Dutch, Danish and German. Sometimes a song simply arrives in another language. Rather than translating it, MINKA follows where it naturally belongs.Although deeply personal, MINKA's songs explore longing, courage, healing and the fragile ways people reach for one another.

MINKA doesn't write songs to provide answers. They create spaces where questions, emotions and personal stories can coexist. In those shared spaces, people discover connection — or simply the feeling of not being alone.Because it's never too late —
to ask difficult questions, to choose vulnerability over fear, to begin again, or to find your way back to each other.

Why MINKA?

When Paula was five years old, she met a black-white cat on the way home and called, "Come with me." Somehow, MINKA did and became her closest companion — the quiet listener, a loyal friend and a place of comfort. Years later, she disappeared, but her memory lives on.Since 2012, another MINKA has been part of Paula’s life, holding her own special place in her heart.A new chapter, but the same feeling of connection, comfort and companionship that inspired the name MINKA.
